The Vision

way Davis Islands is, could be and

Each section below distills the collective thoughts
of Davis Islands residents who participated in community-wide

Small Town Character and Community Identity
Davis Islands has a small town character and a strong
community identity that has been protected and enhanced
over time.
The islands' rich heritage has been preserved, and
elements of the vision of D.P. Davis, founder and
developer, have been recreated. The bridge and the
streetlights are reminiscent of the 1920s and Mediterranean
Revival architecture are preserved and protected voluntarily.

Environmental Quality
The health of Hillsborough Bay is important to Davis
Islanders. It is the water that surrounds us and defines
us as islands. The water is clean and people can swim
in it safely.
Manatees are occasionally sighted and they are protected.
Water access points are kept clean of litter and run-off
into the bay is minimized. Drainage is filtered and
sedimentation is cleaned from the canals regularly.

each is attractively designed and planned to blend

lines are now buried underground to protect against
coastal hazards and to improve the appearance of the
community.
The quality of storm water run-off into the bay and
canals has been very much improved and innovative
technologies are employed to greatly reduce pollutants
and sediment run-off.
