New Business
·
The Chair brought up that the possible Meeting dates for the Open House in November, were the 6th, 13th and 20th. There was discussion and the best date for Staff and members of the Task Force would be the 20th, in the Church. It was also discussed that we would ask the DICA for a table and time to speak at their annual meeting on Nov. 25th.
·
Jeffrey volunteered to get banners for Meeting.
·
Study Circles results were discussed and summarized according to major "topics".
·
Transportation: Speeding at various locations, which threatened our safety.
·
Parks and recreation: Lack of open space & trails for walking and biking. Historic value of old pool and the connectedness to Yacht Basin.
·
Land Use: Density Issues. Business District vs. traffic and transportation. Scale of the Village. Maintain Single Family west of the Village (i.e., no more Multi- Family where Multi-Family doesn't already exist).
·
Aesthetics: Variety of Architectural styles in Single Family areas. Small town feeling. Neighborhood Serving Village. Reduce clutter of streetscape in Village. Lighting improvements. Greenery and green spaces important.
·
What does a Vision Statement look like?
·
Topics = Important Point Ideas = Presentation in Narrative form (must be Inspirational and Educational in order for the community to Buy into!) Use words that are multidimensional, such as:
Small town character
Escape to an Island World
Small town only a bridge away
Worlds away but so close
Caring people
