1. Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. Quorum was noted.
2. There were no minutes to be approved.
Unfinished Business:
1. Lisa DeVitto – Sunshine Law: A request has been made
to the Attorney General’s office as to the appropriateness of our being
under the “Sunshine” Law. Association to hold monies for us: Lisa is
on the DI Chamber of Commerce agenda Wednesday morning to ask the Chamber if it
would be willing to donate $250.00 towards administrative costs to the Task Force. She
also reported that she was going to approach other organizations for donations to
the group.
2. Shelia Spicola – Collaboration: (No Report) Money Making
Events (Palace of Florence): – Has been cancelled.
3. Gene Boles –Plans for the “Picture Preference Survey”
a. The student at Tampa University has pull out of the project as his professor thought it was too complex for him to do
b. If we are to do a “Picture Preference” there are two ways: Either where
the pictures are categorized and shown to stakeholders with them grading the pictures as to
how well they like them; Or have various people take the pictures post the prints on a board
and have stakeholders look at them and talk about them with their conversation recorded by
a “staff” person. It was motioned and approved that if any of the Study
Circle Moderators chose to show pictures it was their decision. And we would address the
subject again in January, before the next “Town Hall” meeting of stakeholders.
It was also requested and agreed that the sign-in sheets be left with the moderators but
they were responsible for returning them to the Chair for inclusion in the Public
Documents book for the Task Force.
Kathy Walsh – Monthly Personality Interviews for DI News – Will get one in the upcoming
Davis Islands News; Deadline for admission, 20th of the month.
Business of the Meeting
1. Reports on issues/concerns raised in the DISCOs; How are they going; Suggestions for more attendees:
Each Moderator reported on what was covered in their session. Terry Cullen from the Planning
Commission, made suggestions to each one about furthering the inquiries into broader areas instead
of concentrating on detail.
Jeffrey Siewert brought the map of Davis Islands that he had divided into 7 sections. It
was agreed that each Task Force Member would take a section and find a “Captain”
for the area. The purpose being that this person would help find more residents in their
area for “communicating” with the stakeholders so that we had a mechanism for
contacting more residents. Task Force members agreeing to take responsibility are:
Village - Lorraine/Dennis
Chesapeake – Charner; Blanca – Shelia; Luzon – Renae; Adalia &
Riviera – Jeffery
Martinique – Lee
Charner asked that she be given contacts for 6 large businesses on DI: TGH, HCC,
DIGC, Jr. Women of Tampa, HCAA & Coast Guard. The Chair agreed to give her
those contacts.
New Business
Request of Henry Gill to be given a Leave of Absence from the Task Force until
after the November 5th election. There were no objections.
Lorraine raised the suggestion that a letter be written to the City to get a commitment
on mail-outs for the Task Force. She and Gene Boles will write up a letter to that effect.
Charner suggested that we get Ray Charamonte from the Planning Commission here to
speak to us or to the stakeholders. Rose said she’d arrange a meeting for
us. (Was not on the Agenda will be reported on at an upcoming meeting)
Adreus Duany may be able to come to speak to us – His presentation to
Temple Terrace was very good. The Chair will investigate. (Was not on the Agenda.)
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
