Revitalization in St. Petersburg
FOUR St. Pete is a citizen group supporting private and public urban
revitalization that follows the vision of St. Petersburg developed
during the Vision 20/20 process of 2001. Projects meeting the Vision 20/20 guidelines provide:
- Pedestrian friendly and transit oriented
- Economically and culturally vibrant
- Environmentally sustainable
- Sensitive to individual neighborhoods
Initially, FOUR St. Pete is concentrating on the
benefits of redeveloping Albert Whitted Airport with a new, mixed-use urban
neighborhood ringed by waterfront parkland.
Other initiatives that are currently being studied and that are of interest
to FOUR St. Pete include:
- A study of an expanded transit system along the Central Avenue corridor
from Tampa Bay to 34th Street.
- The upcoming review and possible rewriting of the rules for the various
zoning districts in the city.
- The creation of a Vision Element within the city¹s Comprehensive
Plan consistent with the goals developed through the Vision 20/20 process.
